Episode 4

Valerine: Episode 4  Valerine: Episode 4 - My mom started to panic when she took a closer look.  "Those Rodents!" She hunched "that boy...he said he found the one he was holding around here...didn't he?! They must have breeded here! We need to get pest control! You've been bitten by an even bigger one!"  Her theory made total sense and it frightened me. Being bitten by a small one had caused me so much sickness the day before, the idea of more possible sickness and the possibility of a serious disease caused by infection from this bigger bite was terrifying.  I drank lots of water and insisted on having brocoli broth for lunch because I had heard they it helps build immunity. Mom booked another appointment and called pest control. She insisted that I rest and made me take  long nap in her room while she sat beside me.  It was while trying to fall asleep was when I started to feel sick again. I felt extremely lightheaded and my neck ached a lot. M

Valerine - Episode 3

Valerine - Episode 3: The blue specs of light             The person walked past us, although I was sure that they had made eye contact with me. Of course, it had gotten out of my head as soon as I was in front of the car. However, on the way back, I got reminded of it again when I caught a glimpse of a blue night light. Were that boy’s eyes actually glowing blue? That could not be possible right? But I was still fascinated at the thought of it. I always had a fancy for blue eyes. They reminded me of the ocean. The idea of blue eyes which glow seemed very beautiful to me. If I had eyes like that, I would stare at them in the mirror for hours. I thought as I stared at the city lights, and the full moon shinning. After that, my mind went blank. This happened with me quite a lot. I would slip into this sleep paralysis like state, for at least half an hour or sometimes at its worse, hours at a stretch of time. I heard m

Valerine: Episode 2

EPISODE 2: The Bite I spent my winter break typically. I tried hard to focus on my studies to prepare for my finals. I was, and had always been an average student.   I liked to spend my free time reading stories and watching movies. I always enjoyed a good story and aspired to be an actress one day. My version of acting was like that of the olden days: In a theatre, actually living and feeling the storyline and its morals within myself, feeling the character, and delivering a live, emotion-filled performance instead of a directed recording. I told my ambition to only a few people. I had always kept the fact that my best friend was still my teddy bear, a secret. Anyway, I had not gotten used to the new neighbours moving in, so I would have to rush back inside to change into appropriate wear because I generally only wore tube tops in my room. One such day, I accidentally came face to face with a boy who looked close to my age. He h

Valerine Episode 1: Pirates

  * Valerine – Episode 1: Pirates . I woke up frustrated to my yelling alarm and forced myself out of bed while also heaving a sigh of relief knowing that there was a holiday the next day. Even with all the work I had left to finish, at least I would be able to sleep in a little late and wear warm clothes. The school forbade me from wearing my winter uniform as it was not November yet. The headmistress had made a comment about how absurd it was that I was feeling cold enough to wear winter garments already when all other students still insisted that air conditioning remained on during classes. It was torture for me. After taking an awfully cold shower, I had to take a while to rub myself violently to warm myself. After getting dressed, I went outside and prepared breakfast for myself. By the time I was done eating, Mom came outside and was relieved to see that I wasn’t late. She sat down to make breakfast for herself too while I had to rush back to my room because I had forgotten to
